My testimony addressed the persistent anticompetitive behavior of dominant tech platforms, particularly in the digital advertising market. While our members come from diverse media backgrounds, they all rely on fair access to the open internet to create, distribute, and monetize original content. Yet today\u2019s digital ad marketplace lacks basic rules, allowing tech giants to operate without accountability\u2014fueling opaque practices, data arbitrage, and conflicts of interest that harm publishers and consumers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since my testimony, Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled that <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcontentnext.org\/blog\/2025\/04\/28\/its-official-ad-tech-is-stacked-against-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google abused its monopoly in ad tech<\/a>, with remedies now under consideration\u2014including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/661833\/google-ad-tech-business-doj-break-up\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">potentially breaking up parts of its ad business<\/a>. Meta also faces an ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/11\/ftc-meta-instagram-whatsapp-lawsuit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">antitrust suit from the FTC<\/a>. While these cases are encouraging, legislative action is essential to prevent further harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why DCN strongly supports the bipartisan AMERICA Act, introduced by Senator Lee. The bill sets clear, common-sense rules to restore transparency, promote competition, and curb platform abuses. displace original content and replicate past harms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-call-for-policy-action\">Call for Policy Action<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>DCN supports the <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcontentnext.org\/blog\/press\/digital-content-next-endorses-bi-partisan-america-act-to-protect-trust-in-online-advertising\/\">AMERICA Act<\/a>\u2019s measures to rein in conflicts of interest in ad tech, alongside broader calls for privacy legislation and copyright protections in the AI era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"
